There’s a chaotic energy to the debut album from genre defying young Scots Dead Pony, and it rubs off on listeners in the best possible way. Over sixteen tracks that range from frantic punk to electro tinged rock to even trap hip hop influenced, this is a magnificent album that is as thoughtful as it is wild.
“IGNORE THIS” sets the tone for the album, with it’s dance-punk sensibilities front and centre for all to hear. Anna Shields’ vocals are powerful and carry the songs forward in some style, while the drumming of Aidan McAllister is the backbone of the music, with his beats solidifying the sound.
Album highlights include “RAINBOWS” and “White Rabbit”, while “motor City Madman” closes the album in the weirdest, most enjoyable way possible.
This is a statement of intent from a young band who have a lot to say. Definitely ones to watch.
