Glasgow punks Soapbox have been making a name for themselves in Scotland for their politically charged songs and ferocious live performances. After a string of well received singles, “Hawd That” is their first EP. And it is a scathing attack on the state of the country under the Tories.
“Private Public Transport” is an anthem for the disenfranchised. Angry, loud and straight to the point, it takes a swipe at the government and the point lands brilliantly. “Meter Made” is similarly angry, an anti-austerity song that will be relatable to just about everyone who has ever struggled to make ends meet.
These five songs are a coherent and brutal collection that will strike a chord with those who listen. Strong “Fuck the Tories” energy throughout, and that’s a sentiment we can all get behind.
